French catamaran builder says orders for the current year are up by 11.5%.

French yard Fountaine Pajot, one of the world’s leading builders of catamarans, is predicting strong growth for the year ahead.

Following a successful autumn boat show season in 2015, the volume of orders for the current year has already reached €46.5m, up 11.5% compared to this time last year – €13.8m from billing and €32.7m from orders yet to be delivered.

The company, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, attributes the growth to its 2016 Sail & Power development plan. All sales were boosted by the renewal of its product range and a strengthening in exports.

From 2013 to 2015, growth in the sailing sector reached 43% and motoryacht activity increased by 106% over the last year, leading to the hiring of 100 people over a two-year period.

In 2016, Fountaine Pajot will accelerate its investments: €3.2m will be spent on continued development of the range, €5.6m to the extension of its production units, and €1.8m in process optimisation.

In 2014/15, the yard achieved turnover of €61.6m, up 23.4% on the previous year. Fountaine Pajot now employs more than 360 permanent workers.
